Boca Libre support

The most common setup issues are macOS permissions. Boca Libre Settings checks them continuously while the window is open.

Getting started

1. Open the downloaded disk image and drag Boca Libre into Applications.
2. Open Boca Libre and use Settings to grant the requested permissions.
3. Choose a shortcut. Hold it while speaking, then release to type.

Accessibility still says Needed

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. Turn Boca Libre off and back on once, then return to Boca Libre Settings.

Dictation cannot get ready

Release the shortcut and try again. Confirm the selected language has an on-device recognizer installed. Boca Libre stops stalled startup automatically instead of waiting indefinitely.

OpenAI key validation fails

Confirm the key is active, the API account has billing available, and the configured transcription model is available to that API project.

Update Boca Libre

When a newer version is available, point to the blue download control in the dictation capsule to reveal the Update label, then click it to open Boca Libre’s signed update window. You can also open Settings → Updates and choose Check Now.

Turning off automatic update alerts keeps the update window from opening on its own. Boca Libre still checks its signed public feed when it starts and once a day while it is running so the capsule can show that an update is available. Automatic downloads remain a separate setting.
